A message to our Rugby Family

Dear coaches, volunteers, parents and players

Over the last 6-7 weeks we have off-season physical activity through the Summer for our players with our “Sunday Fun” sessions. The challenges this posed during the pandemic were significant, particularly the issue regarding COVID security and safe provision of sport for our young players and volunteers during these unprecedented times.

Whilst Sunday sessions have been well received and well run, they have taken a significant amount of time, resource and effort from our coaches and volunteers to run safely. Feedback from parents etc has all been excellent, demonstrating once again what a great community club we are…..

You have all been magnificent and the dedication, time and effort you have all demonstrated has been first rate, we were one of the first clubs to attempt to get back to some semblance of normality with safe delivery of rugby at the forefront of the planning. It is also recognised that whilst we have provided these sessions, we do need a period of time to recharge the batteries once more and to assess what Rugby will look like when we move through the stages of the RFU Rugby Roadmap.

To that end, we will be suspending the sessions for two weeks, returning on Sunday 6 September 2020. By that point we will have a clearer picture of what the rugby landscape looks like and with schools returned we will have a clearer view of when we can open the clubhouse fully. Therefore, there will be no Minis & Juniors rugby training activity (Other than Colts continuing to train with Seniors) at the club until that time.

We hope you enjoy the next two weeks off and we will communicate the plans for 6 September and beyond in due course.

Yours in rugby,

David Foord Paul Savill
