Directors League setback for Heathens at home on The Racecourse

Heathens lose out to a well drilled and fit MK side that dominated the final 20 minutes.
The opening stages saw a disciplined Heathens performance with the forwards retaining good possession and a controlled first up defence until the 10thminute when an MK centre made a clean break for a converted try [0-7]. The hosts registered their first points 6 minutes later when Number 8 and skipper Dan Stonehouse [deputising for the injured Craig Wilson] seized an opportunity from a tapped penalty to crash over for an unconverted try [5-7].
The Romany based outfit then took the lead on 23 minutes when turnover ball was well moved to winger Connor O’Brien who crossed for a score duly converted by scrum half Vio Marin [12-7]. The lead was not to last when an outrageous dummy was bought by the hone defence [an early Christmas sale?] that allowed MK to cross for their second converted score on the half hour to give them a narrow two-point advantage at the interval [12-14].
The second half opened in similar fashion to the first when Milton Keynes broke through the centre for an unconverted try 9 minutes after the resumption [12-19]. The lead was extended on 55 minutes when some driving play saw the visitors cross for a further unconverted try [12-24]. Heathens responded on 58 minutes when possession from a 5m scrum was flicked to Connor O’Brien who went into the corner for his second unconverted score of the afternoon [17-24].

Heathens defensive line speed began to fade and some ambitious passing and kicking from hand in the blustery conditions began to take their toll and were well exploited by MK who extended their lead with further converted tries on 50 [17-29] and 80 minutes [17-34] to close out a deserved victory
