The club is saddened to hear that Andy lost his long battle with MS on May 22nd, and offers sincere condolences to his wife Sue and the extended family.
The funeral will take place at Weeley Crematorium, Colchester Road, Weeley CO16 9JP on Friday 23rd June at 11.45am, and afterwards at The Black Boy, Thorpe Road, Weeley CO16 9JJ. No flowers, donations to the MS Society.
Wing forward Andy played in the first ever match of this club, and he and his brother Graham were stalwarts of the early years, with Andy taking on the chairmanship from 1993 to 1995. Always cheerful and unfailingly helpful, Andy continued to support the club in a variety of ways for many years until the effects of MS made life increasingly difficult. Despite by then needing a wheelchair, we were delighted that he was able to attend the club's 30th birthday celebrations with Graham. There are many memories, not least his partnership with James Wilbraham in a fancy dress three-legged race round Mistley and Manningtree which required the consumption of a pint of beer in each hostelry en route, but it is the memory of his cheerful smile which will last longest.
