Founded in 2009 under the umbrella of St John's Parish Church in Moira and the LOGIC Cafe, the group has grown into Moira FC. We now have over 70 active members in the club in four groups, aged from 6-10 and some 50 of these players are involved in matches every Saturday morning.
After small beginnings with a group of P3 children (6 and 7-year-olds at the time) in October 2009, the New Year of 2010 saw P4 children invited to join.
In March 2010 the Moira group - still without an official name to go under - took the field for the first time at the Irish FA/Lisburn City Council Games Development Centre in Hillsborough, taking a massive step forward in the growth of the club.
While the other most established clubs that we were coming up against held the upper hand in most games, it wasn't long before the Moira boys - and girl - were holding their own.
By the time the next session in the Games Development Centre started in September 2010 the teams, still going under the simple title of Moira, were fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Although small in number and very much in the embryonic stages of development, a year after it's birth the club - in line with the development plan - a new batch of players came on-board in October 2010 when a new P3 group was established.
A couple of month later, just before Christmas in fact, a significant, but not earth shattering, event that moved the club forward took place. It was decided that to keep things simple the club would be called Moira FC and this name was included in the first club logo that was produced in December 2010.
The badge, which now adorns all of the club's light blue shirts, is a striking modern design that encapulates some of the history of Moira - the three stars at the top are taken from the coat of arms at the top of the Pentecostal Church building in the village, which is the old market house - as well as St John's Church spire and - of course - a football.
