We’re proud to welcome Rhys Hughes into the Mold Alex first team squad for the 2025/26 season. At just 17, Rhys brings local passion, academy pedigree, and serious potential. Here’s what he had to say,
“I'm really happy to have earnt the opportunity for a place in the first team squad this season. Big thanks to Barry and Liam for the opportunity. Being from Mold, I’ve been in and around the club for a long time. I’ve also spent time at Airbus and Wrexham at academy level. I’m one of the youngest in the squad and hope to learn a lot from Henry and Coney, who play a similar position to me. I’m really pleased to be playing for Mold and looking forward to the coming season.”
On speaking to Manager Barry Owen he said "This is all down to Rhys hard work since I’ve been at the club. He’s trained with the First team for majority of last season, whilst featuring in a few match day squads last season, and he’s played really well so far in pre season.
Today will be a step up for him but knowing Rhys and his temperament, he will take it all in his stride.
He’s a perfect example to our younger squads to evidence the opportunity of the pathway to the seniors.
