It was a sad afternoon at Alyn Park today as news began to circulate that one of our most loyal supporters, John Williams had passed away following a brave battle with cancer. John will be fondly remembered by everyone at Alyn Park, as someone who very rarely missed a home game be it first team or reserves. We would like to extend our sympathies to John's family. John's passing was marked today with a minute silence before the kick off.
The boys from Penygroes put up a spirited performance at Alyn Park this afternoon and matched the home side for large parts of the game. It was Dyffryn who took the lead on 11 minutes thanks to Kevin Barlow as dithering in the Mold defence allowed Barlow to react quickest and finish off an attack which should have been easily cleared. Mold regrouped and began carving out chances but couldn't find the breakthrough.
Following the half time team talk Mold came out with their tails up. They were straight at the Vale and pulled level on 53 minutes thanks to Danny Warren. A shell shocked Vale then allowed Warren to cut in from the left and curl the ball out of the keepers reach into the far right hand corner to put the home side deservedly in the driving seat. Danny should have secured his hat trick with another fine effort but was denied by the woodwork. All in all, a good result played in difficult circumstances with heavy rain and driving wind making the game difficult for both sides.
