With only 1 minute on the clock, Adam Renshaw set up Andreas Economedies who fired home from the edge of the box. It was a great start and the advantage could have been doubled from a corner on 5 minutes but Aled Reece just failed to make contact at the back post. Owen Davies then went close with a long range effort before Andreas's free kick went just over after Renshaw had been brought down on the edge of the box. Danny Warren was unlucky not to open his account for the game on 18 minutes but his shot went just wide. Mold's Joe Jones then received a yellow card for a deliberate foul before Hawarden went close from a corner which saw the ball flash across the Mold goal. Rhyss Nash went close with a great shot which flew towards the top right hand corner but Rangers keeper Jordan Manley parried the shot wide and then cleared the danger. Mold continued to press and got their just rewards on the half hour after unselfish work from Renshaw on the edge of the box saw him set up Warren who curled his shot beyond the reach of Manley. Warren should have made it three five minutes later after Renshaw released him with a great pass but Danny's lob was weak and the keeper gathered. A minute later Owen should have buried his header at the back post but he put it wide from 3 yards. Five minutes before the break Warren again found himself in a goal scoring position but his weak shot was easily gathered.
Following the break Hawarden came back into the game and pulled one back on 57 minutes after Mold failed to defend a corner and sub Jamie Brailsford fired through a crows of players. Wayne Edwards then dispossesed Mold's Joe Jones but his chip went just over the cross bar. Edwards then saw his header goal bound minutes later only for Mold's Ben Wynne to save the day. Mid way through the second half Mold made their first change with Owen Davis being replaced by his brother John. Hawarden's first booking of the game quickly followed after Terry Nicholas fouled John Davies. Hawarden then pulled another goal back after Mold failed to deal with the danger from the right and Alec Walsh was on hand to side foot home a close range effort. The game looked like it might get quite nervy at this point but much to Hawarden's disappointment, Mold were let off the hook after Ben Morgan was forced into putting the ball into his own net rather than out for a corner. Rhyss Nash saw a yellow card on 76 minutes after a late challenge and Adam Henshaw was replaced by Arron Davies. A minute later great link up play between Danny and Aled saw Aled tee up Danny for a close range shot but he could only find the keeper with his effort. Hawarden's Jamie Brailsford then smashed through Nash and earned himself a yellow card before Josh Williams flashed his header just wide from the resultant free kick. Nash was then the victim of another late challenge on 74 minutes which saw Henry Carver awarded a yellow card. Mold finished the stronger of the two teams and put the result beyond doubt on 90 minutes after Warren was fed by Reece and Warren dummied twice in the box before firing into the bottom right hand side of the Hawarden goal.
