The Community

A little known fact about Moldgreen Junior ARLFC is that, within the local community and within Kirklees as a whole, our dedicated band of volunteers work 7 days a week 364 days a year on a number of community projects.
This year alone we have organised and run projects (or are in the process of) in support of

Kirkwood Hospice ,

As our chosen charity for 2009 and due to all the good work Kirkwood does in our community, Moldgreen Juniors have no hesitations in being involved in projects they want to run, with this in mind Moldgreen Juniors home The DRaM Centre will host this years Its A Knockout as well as holding a annual Ironman Sponsored event in aid of Charity and club funds.

A number of our parents also take part in the midnight memory walk, a event that we will yet again support in 2010 with some of our teams wanting to attend as a unit.

Laura Crane Trust,

Fundraised on behalf of the trust, July 27th 2009 will see the pinnacle of this fundraising where Moldgreen Juniors will host EVERY West Riding Youth League fixture (In our very own version of the Magic Weekend) at our home ground The DRaM Centre.

Huddersfield Giants

A number of our junior teams have took part in pre-match fixtures at the Galpharm as well as other grounds in super league, The under eights will this year be taking part in fixtures at Headingly Stadium (Leeds Rhino’s) as part of the Carnegie Floodlit 9s comp.

Supporting Local Schools, (Rawthorpe, Dalton, Moldgreen, Kirkheaton, Almondbury etc)

The offer of coaching sessions / assemblies has been made to all the local schools, this offer is to further improve any school club links we have formalised as well as helping us to recruit new players.

The emphasis of this event is empowerment, socialisation and fitness.

DRaM Neighbourhood Activity
Help towards a healthier community.

At the heart of the centre are sports, health and fitness opportunities for the community. Surveys have shown that the levels of activity within the area are low, in particular amongst the elderly, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and women. Statistical evidence demonstrates the link between inactivity and many diseases, for example, Coronary Heart Disease and Diabetes as well as other medical conditions such as obesity and depression.
