If you are thinking about joining Mold Rugby Club, please contact the Manager for the exact training times.
Rugby is about teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. Our emphasis is about having fun and playing safely in an inclusive environment. Not only is the rugby fun, but playing for Mold RFC gives children the chance to enjoy the camaraderie and friendship that comes from being part of a team and part of a Club that is one of the most successful in North Wales. We look forward to welcoming you.
Mold RFC U14s is for children who are 13 in Year 9 in school only. Please have a look at the other teams if your child is not in Year 9 for more details and contact information.
Where and When? We train every Wednesday on the Leadmills site (opposite Shire Hall) from 6pm - 7.30pm(weather permitting, training can be cancelled due to frost, ice, snow and waterlogged pitches from heavy rain) . If you're not sure where we are training please ask one of the other Coaches, they are all very friendly! Car parking facilities - as we have limited parking at Leadmills we ask all parents to park at the Club House and walk to Leadmills. Please feel free to turn up to our training sessions or contact the Head Coach or Manager if you'd like to know more.
How much does it cost? For the first few sessions there is no charge. Once your child decides rugby is for them and would like to carry on training and play in matches, they will then need to join the Rugby Club and register with the Welsh Rugby Union. The Manager will be able to give you a breakdown of costs (we operate a Direct Debit system) and the next steps you will need to take.
What should they wear/bring? Rugby shirts, shorts, rugby/football boots, tracksuits/Joggers, gum shield, a drink and a change of clothes. Gum Shields are available from most sports shops and are relatively cheap, we do have a local Dentist who will make gum shields to order - please ask the Manager for further information.
How Long Does Training last? Training lasts for 1 hour 3 mins and we ask you to be prompt with pick up times.
My child has never played, will this be an issue? At Mold Rugby Club we are fortunate to have Welsh Rugby Union qualified coaches, so no matter what your child's rugby ability or knowledge you can be confident that they are in the best place to be introduced to the game and developed. Also, all of our Managers and Coaches are DBS checked.
Matches & Match Day
Can my child play straight away?
All players must be registered with the Welsh Rugby Union before they can play, the Manager will be able to provide all of the paperwork you'll need to complete this.
Who provides the kit & what do we need to bring? We provide the Playing Shirts on Match Days, however you will need to bring your own shorts and socks (which are available to purchase from the Clubs Online Shop) as well as your child's boots and gum shield. You will also need to bring a drink and a change of clothing.
Why do I need to bring a change of clothing? Playing rugby means your child will get muddy and wet, so a change of clothes after the game will ensure they keep warm and they won't make a mess of the car on the way home. Most Clubs provide changing rooms which you can use after the match. The other reason is that after playing, the teams are provided with a post match meal and drink, which they eat and drink together in the Club House. Out of respect to the hosting Club and our own, we do not allow the team to enter the Club House in their dirty playing gear and boots.
How will I know who we are playing and who do I let know my child's availability? All of our fixtures are shown on the fixtures and results page on our website, however, these are subject to change. Once you have given your contact details to the Manager, they will send out every Tues/Weds an email and text message confirming the fixture and enquiring about your child's availability for the match and training. It is vital that we receive your reply as soon as possible as it allows us to plan training sessions and arrange the team for Sunday.
Away Fixtures, I have no idea where I am going? On the news page for each away fixture we will provide a link to our opponents Club website which will have google maps and directions. If you are still unsure, ask one of the Coaches at training and they will be happy to help.
These are the main questions we are asked, however if you have any other questions relating to rugby/playing please contact the Head Coach who will be happy to help!
For any other queries e.g. Membership, Fixture confirmations please contact the Manager.
All of our contact details can be found at the top of this page.
We look forward to seeing or hearing from you soon!
