Molesey picked up their first points since the opening day of the season with a fully deserved 3-1 win at Horsham.

The result was the perfect response to the mauling at Dorking Wanderers eight days previously, recovering from being a goal down at half-time to score three splendid second half goals.

Pick of the bunch was Joe Nwoko's stunning strike to put the visitors in the lead, as he chased a through ball and hit an unstoppable looping volley into the top corner from a tight angle. Think Van Basten but from further out.

Surely all bets are now off for goal of the season, and the goals either side weren't bad either.

Four changes were made from the Dorking debacle, and it was the visitors who shaded the opening stages, with Ross Chalke and Dre Grobler both going close with headers, whilst a combination of Josh Pelling's fingertips and the crossbar denied Joe Pratley-Jones's 25 yard drive.

Lee Carney went close for the hosts, and they took the lead midway through the half when a rather softly awarded free kick by the corner flag was not defended properly and an unmarked Dan Sackman headed home from inside the six yard box.

Moments later it was almost two as Liam MacDevitt burst clear but was denied by Liam Allen, and the match begun to resemble a basketball game as Tom Windsor steamrolled his way through several challenges but was denied by a combination of Pelling and Sackman.

A free kick in a similar position for Horsham almost led to a carbon copy of the first goal, with Sackman just failing to get on the end of Darren Boswell's wicked delivery, and Windsor was once more denied by Pelling on the stroke of half-time.

Connor French had a couple of half chances at the start of the second half, and MacDevitt again fluffed his lines when in a good position.

The equalising goal arrived eight minutes into the second period, with youngster Harry Frost glancing a terrific header into the far corner from Craig Lewington's corner.

Allen had quite possibly his best game in a Molesey shirt. His handling, starting position and distribution were all flawless, and he produced a breathtaking save from Boswell's curling effort from the angle of the box to prevent Horsham re-taking the lead.

It was to prove crucial, as shortly after came Nwoko's wonder strike to give the Moles the lead, which in truth they never looked like surrendering.

Last season's double award-winning player of the year Chalke capped a fine performance with a goal in the closing stages, rounding off a fine team move by exchanging passes with substitute Harry Hoadley and firing under Pelling for his second of the season.

Pratley-Jones just edged out Allen and Frost for man of the match, and was once more denied by the fingertips of Pelling in the closing stages as the Moles hunted a fourth.

They'll hope for an equally productive trip into to Sussex on Saturday to face Three Bridges.
