Tom Windsor's first goal of the season helped Molesey to a useful point against Carshalton Athletic.

Ok
Windsor pounced from close range five minutes after the re-start after Ricky Korboa had given the Robins a half-time lead.

The Moles had already suffered two heavy defeats to Carshalton this season, and with several key players missing were set up for damage limitation rather than expansive football.

It was an understandable tactic given that attempts to go toe-to-toe with high flying opponents this season had resulted in several thrashings, but made for a pretty dull first half.

There was barely a Molesey attack to speak of, let alone an attempt at goal.

The Robins had all of the ball, but not in areas that caused the Moles much trouble. Indeed there seemed to be an element of passing for the sake of it in much of their play, and there was a lack of incisiveness and cutting edge.

Mikel Miller clipped the outside of the post for the visitors, and Liam Allen saved from Richard Ismail.

A goal did seem likely, and it duly arrived when Sekou Kaba rode several challenges and set Korboa up to fire into the bottom corner from twenty yards.

Rather than chase a second the visitors decided to play within themselves for the remainder of the half, and it resembled little more than a training exercise.

Molesey introduced Joe Grant at half-time, and he had a hand in the equalising goal, crossing to Kieran Oglinkoya, whose cross-shot was turned in by the alert Windsor.

The score line was scarcely believable, and it nearly got even better when Oglinkoya out-muscled his marker but saw his shot saved by Alex Kozakis.

Carshalton continued to see a lot of the ball ten yards either side of halfway, but continued to be unnecessarily intricate and pedestrian in their approach.

Molesey had the game's outstanding player in centre half Joe Pratley-Jones, and he made a terrific block when Kaba again looked like he would waltz through the home defence.

Allen pulled off a great stop to deny Miller, and Paris Hamilton-Downes shot millimetres wide from the edge of the box.

Kaba had the Robins' best chance to win it, but seemed to take his eye off Peter Adeniyi's cross and completely missed his header.

The Moles almost had the audacity to win it themselves in stoppage time, as firstly Kozakis flapped at a routine cross and almost let Windsor in for his second.

Almost immediately afterwards the impressive Sam Charles exchanged passes with Grant but fired high and wide from the edge of the box.

The Robins will be kicking themselves they dropped points in such a manner, whilst the Moles would gladly take more of the same at high flying Hythe Town on Saturday.
