Molesey recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since August with a hard fought and ultimately deserved 2-0 win over Farnham Town.

The Moles got off to a dream start when Will Neville put through his own goal inside two minutes, and a poacher's finish from Lewis Ackerman midway through the second half sealed the victory.

What would have especially pleased the Molesey management was a second clean sheet in a row, which was only their second of the season and owed much to the returning Moses Spencer and Jordan McCartney, who both put in commanding performances at the heart of defence. They were also able to call on as strong a bench as you could wish for at this level, with Ross Chalke, Luke Elliott and Kristian Webb all emerging as second half substitutes.

Ackerman was instrumental in the opening goal, with his clever back heel setting Tim Dilloway on the first of countless rampaging runs down the left. His low cross was turned into his own goal by Neville, preventing Manny Quarshie from a tap in.

Quarshie then capitalised on an error from Luke Whiddett to put himself one on one with Adrian Coles, but the keeper saved well with his legs. Coles then pulled off an outstanding save to keep out Tom Windsor's fierce volley following Andy Graves' surge down the right, and got fingertips to Nick White's drive from the edge of the box to keep his team in it.

Farnham were neat and tidy all evening and possibly just shaded the possession count but seemed to lack a cutting edge up front. It took the best part of an hour for them to register an effort on target, with Wester Young twice saving comfortably from Joe Sowden, the second occasion coming moments after the Molesey keeper had thrown the ball straight to him.

By that time though the Moles had doubled their advantage, which owed much to Nathan Motley, whose pace and direct running caused the visitors' defence problems all evening.

Motley had twice come close to extending the the home side's lead, shooting just wide moments after the re-start before picking up Young's throw out in the left back position and travelling the length of the pitch but firing high and wide. Ackerman's goal came about when Motely combined with Dilloway on the left before putting in a terrific cross to the back post. Ackerman's marker was sleeping as he slid in for his tenth goal of the season to secure the win.

The Moles held out in comfort to secure an early season double over Farnham following their opening day win at Mead Lane, and will look to build on the victory when high-flying Egham Town visit Walton Road on Saturday.
