MATCH REPORT: DYCE 0 MONTROSE ROSELEA 1 : McBOOKIE.COM NORTH PREMIER LEAGUE SAT 20th AUGUST 2022

Having lost to Dyce in the Grill League Cup 11 days ago Roselea headed to Iain Mair Park looking to post their 1st League win of the season but moved into the game with a major headache. With both signed goalkeepers unavailable and no trialist found, manager Eric Watson had no other alternatives other than to pull on the gloves himself.
Roselea line up: E.Watson, Rioch, Stephen, Edgar (T), Taylor, Robertson, Beedie, Thomson, Soutar, Mitchell, Jamieson. Substitutes: Doan, Bailley, Gill, Burgoyne, McDonald, Davidson.
Dyce created the 1st chance of the match in the 2nd minute when a corner from the left was headed clear and fell to Leith 25 yards out but his shot just went wide. Dyce again went close in 16 minutes when Johnston charged down the left wing and cut the ball back to Keir who’s shot from the edge of the box drifter wide of the right-hand post. With both defences on top, the game then descended into a midfield battle with only the odd half chance here and there before the half time whistle sounded.

HT 0-0

Dyce had the ball in the net 3 minutes after the break when Leith sent a cross deep into the penalty box which was headed into the net, but was rightfully ruled out for offside. Roselea tried to shake things up with 20 minutes left with Burgoyne, McDonald and Baillie replacing Taylor, Robertson and Mitchell. The first real save of the match came in 77 minutes when Dyce broke down the right and Campbell sent a pass into Walker who turned and shot from on the edge of the box but his effort was well saved by Watson in the visitor’s goal. Roselea finally created a few chances in the last 5 minutes when McDonald had a shot from 20 yards well saved by Cook, then Stephen sent a long free kick towards the back post which Jamieson headed back to Thomson whose effort just went over. With the game heading towards a dismal draw the visitors struck 3 minutes into injury time when Reoch sent a long ball towards Bailley who headed the ball onto the unmarked Fraser Jamieson and the big striker homed in on goal before calmly sliding the ball into the bottom right corner from 10 yards
It was without doubt that Dyce had more position, but Roselea battled all the way through the 90 minutes and manager Eric Watson will savour the clean sheet he gained in his guest appearance between the sticks. Roselea now head towards Ellon United on Tuesday night with a 7pm kick off at The Meadows.
