Montrose Roselea travelled to Colony park in Inverurie For their final league match of the season. I win would see Roselea jump into fifth position on the table however three clubs had games in hand over them. With the cup semi-final coming up on April 16th a good performance would be welcome ahead of a tough game. Bar long term injured Rae, Thomson and Harrison the Lea were also missing Jo Reoch who was on holiday.

The team were welcomed to a snow shower as they arrived and that set the scene for the weather all afternoon with all the seasons in one day. Roselea kicked off into the wind and conditions were tough

The first chance fell to Colony Park in five minutes when Strachan met a header and Tweed had to tip the ball over the bar with a good save.
Another chance for Colony in 10 minutes this time McKewon who hit the bar with a decent strike with the outside of his right foot.

The early warning signs were there for Roselea and after a slow start they fell behind in 14 minutes. Lind sent in a great cross and STRACHAN struck home with a powerful header

It was to get worse for the visitors and they fell further behind in 17 minutes and again it was the danger man STRACHAN who caused the problem. He broke away and although Tweed got his hand to the shot it had enough momentum to squirm over the line.

A rampant home side went further ahead to shock Roselea further in 27 minutes. Looking suspiciously offside as the ball had come off a Roselea player when it was played forward STRACHAN hit an unstoppable shot which took a slight defelction and over Tweed into the top corner.

Roselea finally woke up and had their first chance in 33 minutes when Bailey made his way to the byeline and cut back with the inrushing Garnham just failing to connect however a defender had got a touch for a corner.

From the corner sent in by Beedie, GREIG headed home at the front post to give Roselea a lifeline

Roselea made it more interesting in 38 minutes. Soutar hooked a ball into the box and Garnham did well to volley the cross back to GREIG who swept home from close range for his second of the day

Roselea made a double substitution McCormack and Davidson on for Tweed and Mitchell after the break

Good start from Roselea and home keeper had a great double save from Watson in 46. Davidson won a free kick and Soutar’s free kick just went wide
Sub E Watson on for Beedie 65 minutes

Davidson and Watson both had speculative efforts just wide as Roselea looked to take advantage of a hemmed in home side.

Roselea made further subs with Gill and Jamieson on for Bailey and Garnham in 80 mins

Jamieson shot from the edge of the box 85 went just wide of the upright

Roselea pressed hard for the remaining 10 minutes but a resolute home defence kept things tight for the remainder of the game under sever pressure from the visitors.

This was a sore defeat for Roselea and ended any hopes of a top 5 finish. To gift any team three goals so early in the game is always going to be an uphill task however they did show some guts by making a game of it and with a little bit of luck could have gone on to win it.

The team will need to pick themselves up for next weeks Mcleman Cup Semi Final at home to Banks o Dee. The match at Links Park kicks off at 2pm.
