Roselea headed up the AWPR for the first of 4 trips in a row to the Granite City. Roselea travelled minus Calum Watson, Ryan Taylor, Jordan Harrison & Conlan Robertson but still fielded a strong side. On the plus side player Manager Eric Watson who has not yet featured this season has resumed training but is still a few weeks away from starting. Lochside Park was in excellent condition and with very little wind it was set up for a good game.

The match started fairly evenly however first blood almost came to Hermes when a header was cleared off the line from Rae and from the resulting corner another free header was allowed by the Roselea defence.
It was better from Roselea in 8 minutes when Alberts won the ball strongly in the box and played back to Beedie whose strike was flying when blocked in the box and a follow strike from Rae met the same before Beedie shot over.
Roselea seemed to lose their way and it was no surprise when they fell behind to a great goal. The ball fell to INNES at the edge of the box and he curled a beautiful strike into he corner of the net in off the post in 18 minutes.
The game changed dramatically from then on with Roselea totally losing their way and panicking in possession whilst their opposite numbers controlled their passing. It was therefore no surprise when Roselea fell further behind in 34 minutes but it was a self destruction. Davidson skewed his clearance high in the air and when McCormack went to punch clear he missed the ball and it fell to CRAIG for an easy finish.
It was another preventable goal that put Hermes on easy street in 40 minutes. Beedie lost possession and CRAIG was released and drew McCormack before sliding home.
The horror first half was complete when MITCHELL was left unmarked from a corner and headed home from very close range in 45 minutes.

The break was the chance for Roselea to regroup but it wasn’t long before the Hermes juggernaut went into full action again and Craig squared for BEGG to flick home in 49 minutes.
It was to get worse for Roselea when Hermes got a sixth and again it was a close in corner which caused the problems however this time it appeared that McCormack was impeded on the line.
Roselea made two changes with McDonald & Garnham replacing Beedie and Alberts on the hour mark in a hope to steady the ship.
The subs appeared to make a difference and JAMIESON finished from a Greig run and cut back to at least give Roselea chance of making the score look more respectable in 63.
Hermes added two more goals with sub TAIT grabbing them to end a dismal day for Roselea

This was a terrible day for Roselea with too many players not looking up for the game from the start and that only got worse as the day went on. It is Roselea’s biggest defeat since joining the North Region Juniors in 2015. The Players & Management will have the week to work on things before returning to the same venue next week with hopefully a different attitude. There were no pass marks for any players and none of them will have any grounds for complaints if not in the starting line up next week. Next week is a North Regional Cup 1st Round tie and kicks off at 2.00pm
