The Moorabbin Rams have defeated Burnside Rugby Club 24-19 in Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.
In a pre-season game where it saw both teams play three 20 minute halves, came to an epic conclusion when Marac Beckham crossed the line to hand the Rams the win by five points.
Period one saw the Rams defend in their own half for the majority of the 20 minutes, as Burnside had majority of possession but some resolute defence by the Rams kept them scoreless.
The Rams were the first to score four minutes before the end of the first period, as Paul Maihi crossed the chalk to hand the Rams a five point advantage.
The Rams kept up their intensity in the second period and started where they left off with Antonio Raqio finding space to dot down the Rams second.
Burnside replied through a penalty try to make the scores 12-7.
Antonio Raqio was in the action again as he played fullback Justin Mccoy-Edwards into space, as he crossed to extend the Rams lead to 10 points.
Burnside responded just before the end of period two when Eugene Lagana scored a try to make it a five point ball game.
Burnside were the first to score in period three as Keanu Elippa and Patrick O’Reilly put Burnside up for the first time by two points with little time remaining.
With time running out the Rams dug deep and got reward for their efforts when Beckham barged his way over the line to hand the Rams the win.
