Morley play Ashfield on Sunday - KO 2.00pm

Morley Women play their second pre-season friendly at Scatcherd Lane on Sunday September 13 with a 2.00 pm.

After a confidence boosting victory over Richmondshire, Morley women turn out on Sunday to face Ashfield Ladies RUFC. This will be a much tougher match than previously and ideal preparation for the league matches to come in October. Ashfield play in Women's NC 3 Midlands (North) and came 3rd of 6th in the league. This was above two of future league opponents Doncaster Demons 2 and East Retford.

Morley have a large squad available and would welcome your support at Scatcherd Lane. Admission is free, so if you have some spare time and are missing your shot of rugby, do come along and support our Women.

Match report of Ashfield's cup semi-final match from Ashfield Ladies RUFC Facebook
15/3/26
Paviors 38 – Ashfield 0
The road to the NLD Women's Cup final ended for Ashfield Ladies last weekend away at Paviors, but the 38-0 final score fails to reflect the sheer determination, grit, and high-quality rugby Ashfield brought to the pitch.
In an incredibly physical game, Ashfield played with heart from the start. The phases of play were some of the best seen this season - structured, patient, and aggressive. Ashfield camped in the opposition half for long periods, stringing together multiple phases but the Paviors' defence held strong. On another day, those close-range efforts would have crossed the whitewash, but the luck just wasn't on Ashfield's side when it came to finishing the job.
Despite the result, there were massive individual performances that showed exactly what this team is made of:
Players Player - Danii : A magnificent performance. Danii was everywhere organising the defensive line and leading by example with some thunderous tackling. When Ashfield had the ball, her incredible runs were the primary source of momentum, constantly asking questions of the Paviors line.
Coaches Player Rachael : Rachel had her best game so far and worked hard to apply training to a matchday. Her reading of the game in defence was good and she made some great tackles. A total team player who worked tirelessly from start to finish.
Opposition player : The Paviors squad recognised the threat posed by Jess, awarding her their Opposition Player of the Match. Her carries were a highlight of the game. Powerful, direct, and consistently breaking the gain line to keep Ashfield on the front foot.
Huge credit must go to Paviors. Their defence remained incredibly well-organised despite the pressure Ashfield applied, and they showed their quality by being clinical; whenever they found a gap, they made it count.
While it wasn’t the result the Ashfield wanted, the performance was one to be proud of. To go away in a cup semi-final and play with that much pride and structure shows exactly how far this squad has come. Ashfield travel to Long Eaton for their final league game of the season this Sunday. If you would like to give rugby a try, please get in touch."
