Goole too much for brave Morley.

After back to back wins Morley entertained hopes of beating Goole, but the visitors from the East Riding had too much for their hosts.
A comparison of the two sides before kick-off revealed an obvious physical mis-match, with Goole boasting several of the biggest players to face Morley this season.
Despite this the home team took the lead in only the second minute, as centre Daniel Mohun scored a trademark try following a penetrating run. Fly half Jamie Hall took the extras for 7-0.
But the lead was to be short lived. From the re-start Goole won the first of what was to be far too many turnovers to score a solo try in the corner, and poor or absent tackling by Morley was to be evident several times in a first half that the visitors dominated, running in three more tries all of which were converted.
Morley found themselves defending for most of the half, but right at the end referee Neil Clay penalised the visitors for not releasing, and the penalty gave Mohun the opportunity to reduce the deficit with a try in the corner. Half time: 12-26
The second half was business as usual, the large and well organised Goole pack continuing their dominance and soon driving over for an early try. 12-31
At the scrums and lineouts the visitors had it all their own way, and on the rare occasions when the ball was there to be had, Morley’s lively scrum half Dominic Clay had to be quick to use it. It was from one such situation that the home team’s best move of the game followed. Deep in Morley territory, the ball made its way through the hands to Mohun, who punted an enormous kick up field over the Goole heads and set off in pursuit. The visitors’ full back raced to his own 22 to pick up the ball, and turned to kick clear. But Mohun charged it down and the ball bounced to another Goole player who was quickly overpowered by supporting maroon jerseys. Hall seized the ball and, spotting the opportunity, ran under the sticks to score. He converted his own try for 19-31.
Goole scored three further tries, with only a solitary Mohun effort, converted by Hall, in reply.
Man of the Match for Morley was diminutive winger Liam Hodgkinson, whose brave tackling of much bigger opponents was an example to those among his teammates who apparently need one.
