3 touring teams spice up the competition in a yorkshire festival

We were a touch light on numbers due to injury and holidays and only managed 14 players for a 15 aside tournament, 5 x 16 minute games was going to be a tough ask...

Morley Vs Sandal 5 - 0
We started slowly and had just enough to hold Sandal who were also packing 14 boys, its the first time in 2 years playing Sandal and both sets of boys wanted the victory. A fair bit of to and fro, led to a bit of a tough team talk, the boys agreed there was so much more to give and agreed they would up the intensity in the second half.
This clearly worked as they started to dominate, not letting Sandal out of their half and pressing in defence more effectively, this led to Morley creating enough space to get over the line.
A flowing move from left to right took the ball over the line another time but saw Adams heartbreak dropping it as he tried to put it down.

Morley vs Northampton Old Scouts 0-38
This was a good quality team and Morley really were out gunned, several of the boys agreed after the day, that if we had been firing we could have beaten them...I'm not sure, they were a tough team. We again started slowly and seemed to lack some confidence, again improved through the second half, losing to the eventual winners (who didn't concede a try all day) was something that every team today had to cope with.

Morley vs Bromsgrove 12 - 5
We had started to play at this stage and Bromsgrove were another good team for us to contend with, there were several good phases of play in the first half, the boys were starting to move the ball, but were wanting too much at the back of the ruck which was resulting in slow ball.
One try in the first half really buoyed the lads, sadly they let in a very soft try through the middle of the ruck and were left under the posts with a slender 2 point lead.
The second half saw the boys cut loose shifteing the point of attack and running hard and fast saw us drive hard into the Bromsgrove 22, some great offloading saw another try and the game was then controlled and played in their half, stout defence saw us stop any attacks and the boys never looked like giving anything away

Morley Vs Doncaster 26 - 10
Doncaster were unbeaten and we know them of old, hard fast and agressive. Morley were more than up to the challenge, we played great percentage rugby, made the right decisions and but for a little lack of composure and skill execution this could have been a rout.
The lads knew that a win in the next one would see them lift the runners up trophy

Morley vs Barnet Elizabethans 19 - 0
This festival was really getting the boys fired up now, the Scouts coaches were mentioning it looked like a different team and they played that way too...Confidence, bags of it, wingers hands on the ball, loads of it, ball out from the back of the contact areas, quick smart.

If we had played Scouts at this stage of the festival maybe..just maybe..

14 boys, 5 x 16 minutes games, all boys played every minute and enjoyed themselves, a runners up trophy was a fair result for a slow start and a storming finish to the day, Dom, Stuart and I couldn't have been prouder of the boys. Disciplined, committed, team orientated, playing for each other and for fun...We couldnt have been prouder, im sure i speak for the parent too...

What a fantastic effort massive well done boys.
