Morley travelled to Yorkshire Cup hosts Yarnbury for a three way involving Ilkley, a team rarely played against oppositon.

Morley under 10's have most weekends enough of a squad to put out two teams and this weekend was the same. Yarnbury and Ilkley having one team each would present a tough set of games.

Morley's cup finalists played Yarnbury first and dominated the game from the off. With most of the ball and the territory, Morley carried on from where they left off the week before. with some very strong tackling and outstanding distribution they were able to create the space to push Yarnbury back. Yarnbury defended their line well and Morley had to resort to team work and strength to keep rucks and mauls constantly moving to allow individuals to pounce over and ground the ball. Morley ran out 5-0 winners and deservedly earned the plaudits of the oppostion coaches.
Morley's next team however had the disadvantage of playing up hill, and quiet a steep hill along with facing an oppsotion who now had their eye in, momentum and the continuity of the same players. Morley started well scoring in the corner, but this was a short and brief moment for Morley as Yarnbury used the slope and forwards to push Morley back. Yarnbury then pushed the ball wide and found space and Morley wanting at the edges. The opposition grew in confidence and it then became a bit of one way traffic as Yarnbury then ran in several tries winning 7-1.

Morley then swapped teams to play Ilkley. Ilkley played well, spreading the ball wide. Morley soon found they had to keep their shape but could do this as they dominated the ruck and maul, this gave the backs time with the ball in attack but also allowed them to keep shape in defence. With a couple of very fast players Morley had a few last minutte tackles to make to stop the oppsotion running down the wings to score. Morley stepped up their game and started to dominate and with ilkley constantly pressed on their own line Molrey ran in a few unanswered tries to win 4-0

Morley then put on their other team who had now rested and taken stock of their heavy defeat to Yarnbury. With this on board, the slope of the pitch in their favour and Ilkley rotating a few players Morley had a really good chance. It was a very close game with both teams pressing the other, Morley slightly dominating field psoition but the ball with each team equally. Some sofe tackling let Ilkley through for a couple of tries, but Morley kept pressing, going close a few times. Eventually Morley went over and this was a well derserved reward for their efforts. Time wasn't on Morley's side as they couldn't quite manage the next try which would ahve tied the game.

Overall some good play from both teams and from individuals in both Morley teams. There is always room for improvement with both teams but the effort from all the players was there to see. Good handling and team work was key and this was there to see and bodes well for the enxt tournament.
