The hottest day of the year didn’t deter the crowds in enjoying a free taster session. The numbers quickly picked up at the start of the session, with the stragglers taking the total to 43 players. This included 11 ladies who had never played rugby before, as well as 9 youngsters from the Heart of England School who were invited to participate after their local event was cancelled.

Current Birmingham Moseley players mingled with the newbies in handling and evasions drills before finishing with some touch. The group had to be split into 4 pitches due to the numbers! Tracy and Jon were excellent in keeping the tempo up, even with the sweltering weather, and offering words of encouragement throughout. Everyone involved agreed it was a really fun session and the evening ended with the tackle pad coming out at the end for a few brave players wanting to test themselves against a current international.
