It was a humid rainy day at Billesley Stadium, the birds were circling eerily overhead and the Eye of Sauron was burning in the distance.... ok the last bit was a lie but it was flipping miserable yet muggy!
So, anyway, the rugby. After a lot of knock ons coming from both sides we finally managed to put a few phases of play together and Lichfield took possession early on, we fought them off and managed to keep the score at 0-0 (this tends to happen when no one scores) until Lichfield ran in a try 15 minutes in. Moseley fought back well and we got ourselves straight back up the pitch, after Lichfield infringed for not rolling away 5m from their try line Moseley took advantage and pushed a driving maul over the try line, but unfortunately this was held up and Lichfield were quickly back in possession.
After a serious of penalties from both sides each captain had a good talking to for various infringements, but the main one, not rolling away (but... we're tired man!) and the next one to have a cheeky lie down in the next break down is gonna have a lie down in the sin bin, so second row Sarah Bell decides she fancies a quick nap and gets herself a yellow card.
A line-out ensues with Lichfield steal from us and after a few crash balls Lichfield dot down again over the try line to make the score 0-12 and it's half time.
The second half starts again, a better beginning for Moseley as our reactions are a lot quicker and we're putting in more phases to try and get the ball out wide, but unfortunately our body positions let us down and the ball is stripped from us by a Lichfield player and they score again 0-17.
Ruth is now really pent up, she's got a vein in her neck that's absolutely throbbing, she needs her a try. Screaming for the ball like a banshee Moseley ship the ball quickly out to full back Ruth who scores in the corner, 5-17. Ruth, still on a mad one, scores again not long after the restart but Lichfield fight back, with their successful pick-and-go's they retaliate and score again, 10-22.
Wanting the last say Ruth finds a loose ball in play and lands her hattrick just before full time ending the game at 15-22.
Thanks all two of you for reading this.
