Mossley AFC Youth section was formed in 2014 when the award-winning Mossley Athletic Junior Football Club joined the town's senior team. As the two clubs had the same ethos and vision that boys and girls in Mossley and the local area should be able to play for the town team it made sense to come together as one, forward-thinking club.
The MAFC Youth section aims to provide a safe, fun and rewarding environment for boys and girls to play football.
At small sided soccer (Under 7's to Under 9's) we recognise that youth football should not discriminate against ability but to educate and improve skill sets, whilst retaining an element of fun and giving players game time. As a club it is important for us to create and maintain strong lasting friendships amongst staff, players, parents and other likeminded clubs.
As teams reach Under 10's up to Under 12's we appreciate that at times competitiveness finds its way into the game and we have no issue with this as it challenges us to continually improve, however our ethos tries to balance this desire to achieve success with education whilst not losing the fun side
As a team grows together and reach the stage where results and tables are maintained by the leagues (at U12's and above from 2015/16) then a team's ethos shifts to a more competitive outlook whereby selection is based on a performance basis and not focused on everybody getting equal game time.
It is important to us as an organisation to ensure that we build a sustainable model for the future, working in and around our local community for the benefit of all. Each week our children, parents and management team represent us and our local area and we are extremely proud of the positive image we create as a club.
