If Phoenix Knights had packed up and walked off the pitch after Mould scored their second goal no one would have blamed them. They had just witnessed a goal of such sublime quality that they knew they were beaten there and then.

Taking the ball down neatly from a ricochet between Winter and two defenders, KNIGHT looked up from 20, no 30, no 40 yards and noticed the keeper slightly unsighted by his own players.

Drawing his right foot back, he caressed the ball around the two defenders with his instep, adding a dose of wicked spin. The ball sailed up and away, a full five yards outside the line of the far post. Then suddenly the shot began to bend wickedly, Roberto Carlos style, from right to left.

The Phoenix keeper could see what was going to happen, but could he do anything about it?

With a final dipping flourish the ball slammed into the top corner as the keeper grasped at thin air; goal pie all over his face. 2-1, 45 minutes to play - surely that was game over.

As so it was. Mould scored another six, Phoenix bagged a couple. SODJE may have scored a hat-trick, SINCLAIR a rasping shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards, EWAN a driven finish from distance and ANDERSON a tidy run and a blasted finish, but they all paled into significance to Knight's goal.

Knight is now available for after dinner speaking at reasonable rates to talk through *that* goal ad infinitum....
