Ashorne won the toss and elected to bat.
Napton's opening bowlers Mike(E) and Stuart used their first spells of 4 overs each to pin-down the visitors opening bats thereby keeping the score down to 18 runs off the first 8 overs. This was to prove crucial for the final result of the game.
Napton's second line bowlers, Sam and Chris, kept Ashorne under pressure with Sam dismissing one of the openers. After 16 overs Ashorne were 44-1.
Ashorne then settled down until a half-century partnership was eventually broken by Sam.
Sam took his third wicket with the compliments of a remarkable catch by Stuart.
In the final 10 overs Ashorne threatened to run amok ------ but spinner Rob and 'keeper Graham joined forces to stem the tide.
Although conceding a few boundaries Rob stuck to his plan of giving the leather plenty of air whilst keeping his line and length. Ashorne's No 3 batsman, on 60 runs, was tempted to smack Rob's high floating delivery to the boundary; only to look back at his disturbed woodwork on his way back to the pavilion.
Rob and Graham then mopped up the visitors middle order in the final overs with a caught-behind and two stumpings.
A catch by Joe off Mike (M) took the 9th wicket and Ashore completed their allocated 40 overs on 162-9
Once again, Napton's athleticism in the field was an important part of their game.
R. Pelter 7 overs 4-37
S. Sensecall 8 overs 3-26
M. Eadon 8 overs 2-31
Although not taking wickets two bowlers delivered very inexpensive sessions.
S.Alsop 8 overs for 14 runs
C. Gooderham 5 overs for 15 runs.
Napton lost a couple of early wickets and in the 10th over were 31-2.
Joe and Stuart then put Napton back on course with a partnership of 81.
Good efforts from Mike(E), Callum and Sam progressed the score to 153 after the 38th over.
2 overs left to score 10 runs for victory. This was achieved with 3 balls to spare.
Napton finished on 163-7.
