As regards the ‘new’ Napton CC, this was the team’s first visit to this ground.
It is a very pleasant site with a fine pavilion and viewing area.
The swallows and martins criss-crossed the pitch continually. Mr & Mrs Swallow ignored us all to carry on feeding their offspring under the pavilion eaves.
Captain Sam won the toss and put the home team into bat.
Opening bowlers Mike and Sam delivered their first spells tightly and cheaply.
Mike had three maidens in a row, a wicket falling in one of them.
After 10 overs Hunningham were 29-1.
Splendid fielding kept the score in check.
JP continues to develop his bowling technique and was rewarded with a couple.
Rob’s varying trajectory kept the receivers guessing.
Gloveman Graham put everything behind the ball to concede just one bye.
After the allocated 40 overs Hunningham were 183-5
With less than 5 runs per over required Napton fancied they would be in with a good chance.
A wicket falling in the second over was a shock.
Tom joined Mike at the crease.
This pair have some successful partnerships under their belts. They were to add another in this match.
Some fine running and boundary shots put the target in reach after 32 overs. A ‘six’ by Tom off the first ball in the 33rd over gave Napton victory with Mike ‘carrying his bat’.
A partnership of 181 runs.
