HDFC dropped out of the Leek cup after a spirited display against SCSL Premier division opposition.

HDFC showed from the off that they were not wiling to role over to the prem side and that they would compete for every ball. Hayden Wright started at CB after traffic caused chaos for players arriving plus with an early kickoff time hindering the teams.
From the start Sam Orme set the stall out in the middle as the engine of the team supplying balls for the front two to get on and for Johan to be expressive on what was a large pitch.
But is was a set piece once again that would bite them on the bum as the ball was put into the net from a free header off a corner and HDFC found themselves 1 down but it was the spark that would then show why HDFC can compete. Cory Johnson playing at CB alongside Hayden Wright looked very comfortable with both players playing the ball out from the back and not panicking. Adam Sheldon selected at RB was also linking in well with Matt Fern as they terrorised the Silverdale aback line. Silverdale were getting there share of the ball but once again HDFC keeper Matt Halliwell was showing the form that the club knows he can when they signed him. Chances for both sides were there in the first half but both teams cancelled each other out.

The second half was a tough test for both sides as the fog descended on the pitch causing problems for both teams and also the officials in seeing the ball. The match official Mr Preece at one point had to switch his linesmen round as the one near touchline could not see across to the far side which lead to Silverdale's second of the game. The ball was played out wide and crossed into the box which was headed home but from a contention offside position , HDFC players felt he was offside but the linesman could not see clearly enough to make the call. The referee decided to allow the goal to stand and then move his officials around. HDFC continued to press in the game and got a break through when Matt Fern fired home his first goal of the season and then set up a very tense last 16 minutes.
HDFC continued to press and push for an equaliser with Danny Bentley and James Sheldon once again working to win every ball and chance down every ball. Sam Orme continued to run the middle of the park with Johan moving the ball around to create chances. Ryan Smith was brought on to allow Hayden Wright to move forward to his more familiar role of attacking but in the end it was all too much and Silverdale broke away with some neat passing moves and got a 3rd in the game and with onyl a few minutes left put the game past HDFC's grasp.

"We now are out of all cups for the season so we now just look to concentrate on the league a cliche you might say but we need to get the league games coming in now and start improving the league form and also take this performance into them games treat each league game like we have today and start bringing home the points"
