Nelson Football Club are pleased to announce our first new signings of the season with local players Brad Knox and Alex Mullin who have signed for The Admirals ahead of the 2017/18 season.

18 year old Brad Knox joins Nelson having played for Accrington Stanley from the age of 8 until aged 14 when Wolverhampton Wanderers paid £50,000 to sign him. However having grown homesick during his time in the Midlands the highly rated young Midfielder returned home to play for Clitheroe last season for a 10 game spell before time spent training with Fleetwood Town First Team and U23s.

Knox takes over as club captain of Nelson Football Club in what is a huge signing for the Blues, and the Burnley lad spoke to Nelson FC Media this week, saying
“I’ve been out of action for 6 months with a fractured foot and despite offers from full time clubs I’ve started a job and so want to play part time. Nelson is a great opportunity for me, a chance to get confident and back to my best. As Captain I will be looking to control games in midfield and bring the best out of other players around me, hopefully plenty of goals as well. I can’t wait to get started.”

Knox is joined by fellow new signing Alex Mullin, the 23 year old son of ex Accrington Stanley striker Paul Mullin who joins The Admirals following time spent at University. The left footed Midfielder joined Burnley FC Academy at the age of 13 and was an apprentice there from age 16 to 18 as well as being part of the Burnley Youth Team that reached the FA Youth Cup Semi Final.

“Nelson is a great club with a proud history,” said Mullin having agreed terms this week. “It’s a no brainer for me joining this club after speaking to Al who seems to want to get a good balance between winning games and developing players and he was keen to get me on board. Hopefully I can chip in with a few goals and assists to help the club bounce back from relegation.”

Admirals Boss Alex Norwood was delighted to announce the signings of Knox and Mullin saying , “I’m delighted to be able to welcome both Alex and Brad to Nelson Football Club. These boys are exciting young talents with outstanding pedigree and they’ve really bought into what we are trying to build here at Nelson. I can’t wait to work with them and for our supporters to see the quality that these lads possess.”
