It feels like its been a decade since last season was postponed and cancelled however, nearly eight months on Nelson Ladies are set to kick off their new season and joint-women's manager Nicky Simmonds is feeling confident.
"There was lots of positives to take from the game on Sunday, we have been working on a new system in training and we have tested it in the last couple of games and the girls have adapted to it well.
"We rushed passes in a couple of periods during the first 30 minutes of the game but the last two weeks we have played some very good football and I hope it continues."
"To be honest we don't have individuals that stand out its a team effort.
"We have strengthened the squad to add that bit of stability to what we already have and its shown as we have had good results."
"Yes, at the time we was top of the LFA Women's Premier Division but due to the season being curtailed we couldn't continue.
"Hopefully we can hit the ground running this season when we get going and carry the momentum of pre-season into the start of the season and take it from there."
"It was due to be our final pre-season game but we are still awaiting news from our league on the start date which we believe is to be 4th October but we will see how that turns out.
"If not we will schedule one more fixture in if we can.
"Pre-season I have hardly been around due to shielding at home but Carmelo who is also joint manager along with Mo, Sheldon and Nick have been working hard with the squad to get them where they need to be.
"Its been a good pre-season overall playing a mixed standard of teams and we have been able to compete with those levels.
"Hopefully we can carry that into the start of the season, the squads work rate has been outstanding and improved since last pre season, things look promising."
Nelson ladies are set to kick off their campaign this weekend, and with Simmonds confidence, the Admiralettes should be hopeful.
