This week we caught up with Admiralettes star Leafy Lund Wright to get know more about the Nelson winger.....

*tell us about how you got into football and where you have played before joining Nelson

I started kicking a ball around when I was about 6, I tagged along with boys teams through school, but the first girls club I played for was Barnoldswick Town. Unfortunately my team folded and after a few years away from football I finally got the chance to play again at University.

*how have you enjoyed the season so far?

I've loved every minute of the season, it's great to develop as a team and see how much we are progressing each week. We keep each other going and the team have a great attitude, we enjoy ourselves and give it 100%. Nick and the rest of the coaching staff have done a great job getting us to where we are.

*whats the best thing about playing for Nelson LFC?

Aside from obviously enjoying being back with a football at my feet, I am really happy to have met such a great group of girls, I love the social side, we have a good laugh but we also all share the common goal of wanting to make this team a success.

*how would you describe yourself as a player?

I think I am quite focused during a game, I like to be fully involved whether that's through helping the play or supporting my team mates. I try to anticipate what could happen so that I am ready to play the best option if the ball comes to me. Being a winger I have to be willing to attempt to take on defenders and use my pace to find that perfect cross into the box.

*what do you do outside of football for work/study?

I have recently graduated from Uni where I studied Sports Technology. I am now searching for work in the design of sports clothing, footwear or equipment. In the meantime, I am working at a hotel doing bar work to save up and hopefully find the funds to go travelling Europe in a van.

*what other hobbies and interests do you have?

I love to explore and spend time outdoors, I enjoy camping trips to the coast for surfing and adventures in the Lake District or Scotland. I'm also really into my music, love going to gigs and festivals. Other interests are art, fashion and travel.

*whos you biggest inspiration?

In terms of football, Steven Gerrard was always the player I looked up to; his attitude on the pitch, loyalty to the team and his ability to be so modestly successful have always inspired me. In general life, the most inspirational people would be my parents.

*tell us something about you we wouldnt know

I'm secretly a pretty big One Direction fan!
