Nelson celebrated Non League Day by getting their first 3 points of the season with a 2-0 win away at Cheadle Town with an own goal and a late strike from Striker Dave 'Trigger' Patrick securing the Blues first win of the season.

The Admirals started the game off in great fashion, Portuguese winger Alberto Seidi sprinting past 4 Cheadle players after on 30 seconds but his shot from theedge of the box drifted narrowly wide of the top corner. Nelson looked composed the in the opening 15 minutes, controlling the game and frustrating the home side. Alex Mullin created a couple of opportunities from the right while Trigger and Rodriguez proved a handful up front for the Admirals.

However Cheadle were denied a blatant penalty when Ambrose was bundled over in the box but the referee somehow decided not to give it much to the relief of Nelson. The game was a fiesty affair with a couple of flash points between players, Sam Holt going into the book after a fierce challenge. Nelson continue to press the hosts and after 23 minutes they got their reward when a back pass to the Cheadle Goalkeeper fizzed under his boot and into the net for an own goal putting the Admirals a goal up.

Alberto Seidi was proving too much at times for the Cheadle defence using his pace and power down the left flank however Cheadle came close on a couple of occasion late in the half with some last ditch defending in the Nelson box needed to keep them at bay.

Half Time - Cheadle Town 0-1 Nelson

While Nelson were the better side in the first half, the second 45 minutes saw Cheadle throw everything at the Blues, with Nelson showing some nerves as they look to keep hold of their lead. Chance after chance reigned in on the Admirals goal but a number of outstanding saves from Dean Hardy and more than a few glaring misses somehow saw the hosts fail to hit the back of the net.

Dalton Hutchison replaced Sam Holt to partner McGloughlin in the middle of the park and 18 year old once again impressed showing excellent physical ability and a good touch time and again. Seidi , Trigger and Rodriguez gave the Blues a dangerous edge up front , Seidi bursting past 3 players and firing a 25 yard effort just wide. However the Nelson backline were at times at 6s and 7s struggling to contain Cheadle's countless attacks.

While the hosts continued to miss glorious opportunities , Nelson brought substitutes Wolfenden and Hodson on to add extra pace on the counter. Cheadle shifted to a back three as they pushed forward and threw the kitchen sink at the Admirals however as the game headed into the last 10 minutes the Blues were given a number of fantastic opportunities on the break. Seidi and Hodson combined to put the young Nelson forward through on goal, Hodson pushed the ball past the oncoming Goalkeeper however his shot hit the side netting. Seidi came close to finishing Cheadles off and grabbing his first Nelson goal however in the dying moments the former Southampton man played a wonderful through ball for Wolfenden to race clear. A covering defender managed to catch Wolfenden on the edge of the box with a tackle that saw both players go to ground before the Cheadle player grabbed the ball in his hands. The referee let play continue with Wolfenden retrieving the ball and squaring it across the 18 yard line to Trigger who cooly place his shot first time into the bottom corner securing a fantastic win for the Admirals.

After the game Chief Executive Adam Keizer said "The lads deserved that today, We rode our luck, dug in deep and came away with 3 points and a clean sheet. It's an important win for the lads but we now need to put together some good form over the next few games and build on it."
