In another break from league action, Nettleham will travel to West Bromwich Albion this Sunday.
For this round of the National League Plate, there will be a delayed kick off at 3:30 at Boldmere St Michael’s due to an earlier game starting at the venue at noon.
West Brom have proved tough competition so far this season. They are currently second on the league table, having not conceded a point and with one game in hand. They notoriously beat Steel City 18-1 last month, in an effortless game that involved eight West Brom goal scorers.
Nettleham also have lots of players capable of finding the back of the net. In last Sunday’s FA Cup game, there were six scorers. The game that saw the team proceed to the First Round Proper ended 9-0 against Histon Ladies.
Earlier this season, West Brom beat The New Saints (TNS) 4-3. Back in August, the Netts managed a 4-1 victory against TNS at home. TNS currently sit eighth on the table.
Last month saw Nettleham bow out of the League Cup after a 2-1 loss against Birmingham and West Midlands, a team who now sit fourth in the league. In that same round West Brom lost 3-0 to Burnley, the team now top of the Northern Division.
Sunday’s hosts will be playing off the back of a 2-1 FA Cup victory over Leafield Athletic, a team mid-table in the West Midlands Regional league, one league below.
