Antrobus updates his captains for the new season.

Ahead of our first competitive game in 16 months against local rivals Mynydd Isa Spartans tomorrow afternoon, Manager Shaun Antrobus announced an update to his captains for the forthcoming season at training this week. Lewis Tudor will continue in his role as first team captain and will lead the team in our first season in the North East Wales Premier Division. Jack Neal (Macca) also continues as vice-captain and will be taking over the role of club captain for the season ahead. Max Quinn has also been appointed as vice-captain to support Tudor and Macca.

Macca is an integral part of what we're trying to build at the football club and has the respect of the lads around him. Since the arrival of Antrobus as manager, Macca has been an important player in the dressing room and runs a tight ship as the head of the ruthless fine committee. We're happy that he has accepted the offer to come onboard as club captain and we look forward to working with him behind-the-scenes as we look to progress as a football club.

Max is the longest serving player at the club and leaves everything out there on the pitch. His hard work and effort in training and games is exemplary and we hope bringing him into a leadership role will bring even more out of him. He's another player with plenty of experience and he knows the club inside out, which will be vital as one of the senior players in a young squad. Max was delighted to be offered the role.

Manager Shaun Antrobus had the following to say on his new appointments and the season ahead, “I'm delighted that both lads are on board to support Tudor this season. Macca has been a great presence amongst the lads and it was a no brainer to offer him the additional responsibility as club captain. He will bring the best out of the lads around him and was the perfect candidate for the role. Max is a senior player with a lot of experience at the club and I believe he thoroughly deserves the role. I'm a big believer in rewarding loyalty and lads that give 100% week in week out and since coming into the club I've been impressed with him from the get go. All the best lads!"

"I'm very happy with the squad Liam, Pete and I have assembled and the lads leading us on the pitch. We've got a talented and competitive squad that will need to be at it from the first minute tomorrow in a very competitive league and cup competitions. There are plenty of games and trophies to compete for and I know the lads are raring to go. It's been 12 months in the making but I'm finally looking forward to my first competitive game as New Brighton Villa manager! UTFY!"

Everyone at New Brighton Villa Football Club wishes Tudor, Macca and Max all the best in their roles as we look forward to finally starting our league campaign tomorrow. #UTFY
