Match report -
Newbury Forest came into this game full of confidence following on from an emphatic 10-1 win over Herongate the previous week.
ACD United being two leagues above Newbury were set to be the toughest test yet.
Starting Line up - Bessex, Turner, Foster, Linsell, Samboer, Nixon, Davie, Omogiate, Pobi, Scotland, Stanley
Newbury started shakily and within the 1st minute ACD were put through on goal however Ollie Bessex pulled off a great 1v1 stop to keep the game at 0-0.
Newbury struggled to get into the game to begin with giving up possession far to easy and not holding onto the ball for long periods.
As the game settled down the breakthrough for ACD came following a corner, a front post flick and some poor marking saw the ACD striker head past Ollie Bessex to make it 1-0.
Shortly after that ACD made it 2-0 following some sloppy possession, a ball was flicked round the corner and the ACD striker was clean through on goal. Bessex made 2 fantastic saves however lack of tracking back allowed the midfielder to tap in to an empty net.
Newbury Forest now started to edge into the game and created a great opportunity from a through ball from Alex Foster to Darnyl Stanley who spurned the chance and put wide after the keeper had rushed to the edge of the box.
Following this Newbury found a way back into the game from the penalty spot. After good work from the midfield, the ball was played into Sam Davie who was thrown to the ground and the ref pointed to the spot. Alex Foster stepped up to take the spot kick and tucked away the penalty for his first goal for Newbury with the keeper getting a hand to it to make it 2-1.
Newbury then came under pressure from a few waves of attack and great deliveries from the ACD left back from which they hit the crossbar and also fired wide.

Halftime sub - Alex Foster OFF Ashley Lockhart ON
A slight change to the team for the 2nd half with Adam Nixon dropping back into centre back with Ashley Lockhart coming on to slot into midfield.
2nd half -
Immediately in the ascendency Newbury were creating chances and looking more dangerous.
Kyrone Scotland began to have some joy down the right hand side causing problems for the left back of the opposition.
With this momentum ACD changed to go 5 at the back, yet this proved to be a changing point in the game

Sean Downie made an immediate impact on the team with his forward passing and driving runs which culminated in a goal.
Joe Omogiate tucking away from close range after great work in the midfield to make it 2-2 and the give Newbury an even larger foothold in the game.(62 mins)

Newbury continued to send waves of attack forward with the ball possession being a lot better in the second half. The defence stayed strong and dealing with anything that came to them. Sam Linsell more often than not winning the aerial battles when called upon.
With this Newbury then took the lead following great work from Sam Davie, who was splitting the ACD defence open with his passing on multiple occasions, put Joe Omogiate through for a 1v1 with the keeper. Omogiate tried to dink over the keeper however the keeper could not hold and Omogiate tapped into an empty net to make it 3-2 on 84 mins. Que jubilant scenes from Newbury Forest who had fought there way back into this game and deserved to be in the lead.

The final 10 minutes was full of attack from ACD who fired everything at Newbury in a frantic finish to the game. Almost the last attack of the game ACD delivered a freekick which was headed back across goal from an offside position and tapped in. Although originally given as a goal the ref consulted the linesman and the decision of offside was made.
Ollie Bessex also made a number of saves in this period however was rarely threatened in the 2nd half.
The final whistle went and amongst jubilant celebrations, Newbury can be proud of the result coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against higher opposition.
