Castle made the short trip over to Ecceshall for this local derby - who would come out on top and have the bragging rights? The day started off on the wrong foot when shortly after arriving the skipper confessed to forgetting his boots and gum shield, - so off he set back to Castle arriving 10 mins before kick off and missing the warm up. Thankfully that was the only thing that was to go wrong as Castle completely dominated this fixture from start to finish, and if our decision making had been sharper, the score could have been much more.
Ecceshall's game plan consisted of two options, hit the 8 up or hit a centre up. Once our tackling improved these two options were cancelled out. On the other hand, Castle backs put together some great combinations producing some fine handling moves, only for the last pass to go astray.
We need to control games like this with a more ruthless manner, and work hard to stick to the game plan, letting the score board look after its self.
Having said the above any result to nil is always a good achievement, even moreso in derby games, so well done all.
