There was calls tonight for the third team skipper to resign following their shock home defeat to lowly Newport (level 5 club) One Newcastle player who said he was available and didn't turn up said " it was inevitable that's why i went shopping instead" Newport whose all three teams are struggling at the top of their respective leagues did not have a fixture for their seconds brought a strong team to play Newcastle who were fielding several junior colts including debut by Tom Boyd. Despite heroic defence by Castle, Newport crossed the line on numerous occasions in the first half. The second half was interrupted by Steve Moore being sin-binned for ten minutes for tacking to hard. This was felt a little harsh by your scribe as it was Castle's first penalty and i pointed out to the ref that not only were Newport winning the the try count they were also winning the conceded penalty count 10-1..but this was to no avail. Despite some valiant efforts, especially by Jack Ward the thirds were unable to cross the line and the game ended 52-0 to Newport.
Man of the Match Jack Ward
