Newcastle thirds hosted a Harborne 2nds/thirds team (depends who you ask) As the team gathered in the changing rooms a drunken homeless man was found sleeping rough. He was offered the use of the showers to help revive him from his stupor. It then became apparent that he was not a drunken wino but in fact the teams outside centre Fiji Joe!! Newcastle also welcomed back Rich Morgan from a week off on his residential knitting course. Harborne proved early on that they were going to be a strong test but Ryan Spooner settled some early nerves with a great try as a result of a Harbone punt up field. Some great pressure by the Harbone pack at the end of the first half resulted in a try keeping them in the hunt. The second half was an equally tight affair but yet again a great performance by Rich Morgan helped Newcastle stay just in front before Newcastle pulled away with a couple of tries and a penalty to end with a fairly comfortable 32-17 victory.
