The big day arrived.. going for ten from ten ...allowed on the big boys pitch where only the mini and juniors are allowed normally. (apparently the extra weight of the thirds damages the pitch) The thirds were pumped up for this important fixture and due to its popularity it was bought forward so not as to clash with the important international match..yes Scotland v Tonga. But alas the Vets of Stafford could only muster ten players so a that rare dish a damp squib was well and truly served. Nevertheless the thirds donated three players to them so a game of sorts could take place. Newcastle were fielding some Premadonnas in the form of LLoydy and Rich Sale. LLoydy had managed to forget his boots so in true Pantomine style JJ found a slipper to fit his feet...ahhh. Rich Sale was soon blowing after experiencing the lightening pace of the thirds and after a mere few minutes was asking to be subbed. The match itself was forgettable and only lasted a half before a neck injury to a Stafford player led to an early finish. One highlight though was a hand off by Pete Skinner( playing for Stafford) that well and truly put Andy Howell on his arse. Of course it goes without saying that judda found time for some sparring.
One to forget
