This Saturday New Cross hosted to Topsham at Five Lanes, Kingsteignton.
New Cross came away with a much needed win with the final score being 28-16.
New Cross would like to thank the large amount of supporters who came and cheered them on!
NEW Cross can do nothing more to save themselves from relegation after beating Topsham 28-16 to move out of the Devon One bottom two.
Salcombe are already down and it's either St Columba or New Cross to go with them.
New Cross have completed their fixtures, but St Columba have Old Techs to play this Saturday and if they win they will be safe.
Topsham opened the scoring with a penalty from ex-Bath star Ricky Pellow, but the home side responded with Tim Prowse dotting down at the back of a rolling maul. Both sides traded penalties before another New Cross rolling maul was stopped just short.
The ball was eventually recycled and fed to Dayne Layton for the second try.
Pellow responded with his third penalty before the interval, but Ryan Wotton kicked two after the break to open up a comfortable lead. Topsham improved in the second half but as they pushed they gave an interception to Louise Griffiths. Steve Ashford's late try for Topsham proved little more than a consolation.
