Milton Make A Tough Game Tougher

New Milton played host to Petersfield, a team holding second position in league having only lost one of their eleven matches. Milton had to make a number of changes to their team due to holidays and other commitments but places were taken by experienced first team players and there was a confidence that Milton could maintain their winning ways. The game was close but a penalty towards the end of the first half gave Petersfield an advantage which resulted them finally outscoring Milton by 6 tries to 4.

From the kick off a series of penalties against Milton at the scrum, gave Petersfield possession in the Milton 22 from they scored a converted try.

Milton responded gaining possession and attacking, but the passes were not going to hand and the ball being lost in the tackle, and Petersfield were able to take advantage and score a touch down.

From the kick off Milton gained a penalty and a 5 mtr line out ,the ball was won well, the forwards formed a maul Lewis Rowley breaking round the front of the line out to touch down.

Milton then had to work hard at defending their line with Petersfield doing the utmost to score but the defence worked well up to a point when a penalty resulted in two Milton players being sent to the sin bin, Petersfield immediately used their advantage to score 2 converted tries.

Half Time 5 – 26

Milton kicked off with a full team, penalties gave them a 5 mtr line out, Man of The Match Tom Wood took the ball from the line out and broke for the line and assisted by Sam Bew was able to touch down.

Milton were soon back in the Petersfield 22 creating pressure on the try line, the forwards were unable to break through the ball was passed out to the backs who maintained possession and Sammy Hattib was able to break through for the touch down.

Petersfield quickly responded scoring a converted try, Milton worked hard and continued to attack but the ball was being lost in the tackle and at the ruck, Petersfield gaining possession a scoring another touch down.

Finally a move worked, Ali Gunn gained possession on half way and sprinted for the line leaving the defenders and touching down to make his conversion a bit easier and give Milton a league bonus point.
