Milton's Last Gasp Win

A big crowd watched the New Milton II team take on local rivals Tottonians Badgers in atrocious conditions with the freezing wind blowing along the pitch and down the hill for the whole game, it wasn't until the final moments that Milton were able to score their final try to outscore the Badgers by 4 tries to 3 and gain a bonus point win.

Milton had to play up the slope and against the wind for the first half, they started brightly, from a scrum in the Totts 22 the ball was passed to Ryan Morrell who ran past the defence to touch down.

Totts took full advantage of the conditions gaining good possession in the Milton 22 and from a scrum and many attempts to break though the defence finally made the touch down for a converted try.

Due to penalty yellow cards being shown a player on each side resulted in uncontested scrums which was a disadvantage to Milton who had shown good power in the scrums, Totts duly used the possession to score 2 tries, one converted, in quick succession.

Milton worked hard at their defence and were able to get to half time without any further scores against and at one stage were creating pressure in the Totts 22.

Half Time 5 - 19

Milton used the conditions to keep the ball in the Totts half and tried to break through the Totts defence which was secure and skilled at gaining turnovers from the tackle, and it wasn't until the end of the third quarter that centre Damon Quinn was able to show his skills and glide past the attempted tackles to touch down for a try.

Due to time lost to injuries only one man knew exactly how long there was to play,but Milton kept up the pressure in the Totts 22 and on their line Jack Corbett breaking through to touch down well converted by Ryan Morrell.

Touchline opinion was that the whistle must be blown any time soon but the game carried on and Milton were again creating pressure on the Totts line, this time the ball was passed out to Sam Troughton who broke through and touched down for the winning and bonus league point try,the final whistle blown on completion of the attempted conversion.
