Newport Pagnell Town manager Darren Lynch on their 3-0 win against Holbeach United:
"We made our 2nd trip to Lincolnshire in 2 weeks to face an inform Holbeach who hadn’t lost this year and we were missing our capt Mark Osborn & striker Tom Liversedge.
We won the toss and decided to go against the wind and it turned out to be a great decision because we had to get the ball down and not go long and we went 1-0 up after 10 mins when some good build up play down the right by Jake Stronge and Olly Wilkinson lead to Olly putting in a great cross for Michael Lyon to score at the 2nd attempt and it was more than we deserved, our defence and midfield 3 were outstanding and forced them into playing long balls all half which mostly ran through to our keeper or out of play.
Our 2nd came around the half hour mark when Jake Stronge broke into the box and was upended by their keeper and Dom Lawless converted to give us a 2 goal halftime lead.
We expected a reaction from them and we had to weather a bit of pressure for the opening 20-25 mins without them really working Jonny thick in our goal. The only real goal scoring opportunity that we really conceded all game allowed their striker to drive a shot across goal which hit the post and came back to our waiting defenders.
Our 3rd goal which killed the game off as a contest came when we cleared a corner and Matt Cullis’s through ball allowed josh winters to run through and lob the out rushing keeper to secure us the 3 points.
We now have a rare home game next week against Wellingborough Town."
