Newport Pagnell Town Reserves manager Darren Clarke on their 2-1 win against Cogenhoe United Reserves:

"Cogenhoe United Vs Newport Pagnell Town, We made the short trip up the road to Cogenhoe with the momentum of our last few wins to keep us going in a positive manner, a couple of squad changes with Chris Pendry coming back into the squad and Callum Hirst who had been away from the squad for a number of weeks, the pitch looked in good shape but the wind had picked up and Cogenhoe looked to take advantage by playing us into the wind in what proved to be tough conditions for both team over the course of the whole game, both teams looked to cause the other problems from the off with Cogenhoe looking to set their imposing number 9 off, but they also looked lively down both flanks, on about 18 minutes Jake Watkinson made a really good run attacking and isolating their fullback and getting a ball across goal, in what seemed to be a bit of a fumble by the keeper, the ball broke free for young Cameron Hardie to tuck away and give us the lead, at the back Joe Pursell & Ian Lindop were dictating the pace of the game, and our midfield started to gain a level of control to get us going and applying some pressure on the opposition, both teams created some half chances but nothing of note that really troubled either keeper, HT- 0-1.

The message to the boys was that Cogenhoe had too much quality not to come out at us on the re-start strong, we needed to get a second, and keep the ball a little better, so predictably Cogenhoe got off to a flying start and equalized almost straight away, we didn`t let it phase us though, but a long ball from Joe Pursell found Jake Watkinson with time and space to bring the ball down and turn on the spot before he applied a superb finish to the top corner, 1-2 and were back in the lead, Cogenhoe wern`t done and kept up the pressure, the game did get a little scrappy with quite a lot of fouls being committed by both teams, we managed the game well and managed to bring in Ned Stevens for the hard working Josh Wilson and Kio Ratcliffe coming on for Chris Pendry who had also worked his socks off, with George Chappell on for Micheal Owens and Cameron Hardie already on the pitch we can be satisfied that we finished the game with x4 16 year old`s on the pitch, vital to their own development, but as a club, creating that pathway to senior football, I wish Craig and his players and staff all the best for the remainder of the season, good lads and a nice club, Darren."
