A very warm welcome from Newport Rugby Club to the new children and parents of the Under-7's. New players and members are vital to the future of our club and is one in which you will hopefully play a part.
At both Under-7 and Under-8 level, the game of tag rugby is played, before moving into contact rugby at Under-9. The game of tag rugby is all about the children having fun whilst at the same time learning the fundamentals of the game and the necessary skills required.
Tag rugby is a non-contact sport. During the season, we have a variety of training sessions and match days. Training sessions are always held at the rugby club on Sunday mornings from 10.30 - 12.00 noon. Match days also aim for similar timings and can be both home and away against other local clubs. When playing matches against other clubs, it is 4 players each side. That said, whether we are training or playing matches, we aim for an all inclusive policy so if you are there, you will be playing!
Ultimately, Under-7's rugby is all about FUN.....for both the children and for the parents. We don't like to see parents getting cold on the touchlines, so feel free to bring your boots and get involved (or if not, be prepared to be roped in anyway!). Our club is also a very social one and we encourage everyone to come to the clubhouse after the sessions for a drink and a chat.
All the information and details you need are here on the website. You are encouraged to check the website every Sunday morning around 9.00am to check for any last minute changes to the normal schedule.
Welcome once again, and we hope you'll be happy members of the club for years to come.
