Storm came into the game missing a few players due to the fixture being brought forward 24 hours. Despite this the team felt they would be able to hold their own in what was anticipated as a very competitive game.
The game started with both teams looking very evenly matched, with both teams defending well. Despite this strong defence a couple of lapses in defence allowed crosfields to score two unconverted tries, before Nathan Burton could reply for Storm (conversion missed by Will Rooney). This gave the team some confidence in attack and they started to spread the ball in an effort to break the oppositions defence. Unfortunately some uncharecteristic handling errors prevented storm the opportunity to cross and gave crosfields the opportunity to score two further unconverted tries. Storm again hit back through Morgan Brown (converted by Max Warburton). With half time looming Storm felt they were back in the game and again set about playing some great attacking rugby. Unfortunately handling errors cost the team again and crosfields went over for a further try. Half time score 20-10.
At half time the coaches asked the team to up their efforts in defense in an attempt to force the opposition into errors and to try and build on the attacking skills shown in the first half.
With this ringing in their ears the lads went out and tried to presurise the opposition. This increased effort could be seen throughout the half only allowing Crosfields to score two further unconverted tries. Despite this improved defence the storm attack wasn't as crisp as it has been in the early season and they couldn't cross to add to their tally. FT score 28-10
At the end of the game the team were a little dissapointed with the result and a little cross with themselves that they hadn't played as well as they could. The coaches felt proud of the teams second half defensive effort and will be taking lots of positives from it.
Big weeks training ahead before the local derby with Haydock.
ALSO GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE LADS IN THEIR SATS THIS WEEK.
