Billed as one of their toughest tests of the season so far, the storm lads came into the game in determined mood. With both teams missing personel it was going to be a war of attrition.
Storm set of in fine form scoring 2 unconverted tries through Sam Williams and Logan Bloxham, as well as strong goal line defense stopping both Nathan Burton and Reuben Hardiman inches short, to the dismay of the watching storm parents. Storm restricted roosters to one converted try to leave the half time score at 8-6.
With the Coaches advice ringing in their ears the storm boys began the second half in similar style as the first, piling pressure on the Salford line. Crossing through Morgan Brown (converted by Sam Williams) and Nathan Burton (unconverted), with Reuben Hardiman and Max Warburton coming close. Salford then hit back with a converted try to leave the scores at 18-12 with 5 minutes to go. Storm sensed they needed a big set to prevent the comeback and lose their undefeated tag. Strong running set up field position for Ethan Marshall to score from a trademark scoot from dummy half (converted by Reuben Hardiman). With seconds left on the clock a lapse in the storm defence allowed salford to criss cross for the final try of the game.
With the final whistle a look of job done spread across the players faces whilst also showing the opposition complete respect and knowing there is still work to do before we face challenges ahead.
Well done to all the lads on a fantastic start to the season and also receiving STORM TEAM OF THE MONTH for March.
