Newton Vale come from behind to win!

After a disappointing defeat in the previous week to fellow title challengers Castlemilk Dynamo our side wanted to bounce back with a win against a young and energetic BSC side. This idea did not go to plan as BSC were able to take the lead when possession was lost in the middle of the park and it allowed for their player to be through on goal and smash the ball past McKegney in goals. 0-1.

This poor start then turned into a disastrous start as BSC found themselves 2 goals in front with another very clinical finish this time from their number 9 who cut inside and again smashed the ball home. 0-2.

Our side might have been getting on the ball and looking tidy but we had been slack when defending and paid the price.

Our side were able to get back in the game when Whiteford done well to win the ball back high up the park and play a nice through pass to Darcey who got the ball out his feet and smashed it into the bottom corner.2-1.

HT Newton Vale AFC 1-2 BSC Glasgow

Into the second half and our side started brightly looking to bring the game level. BSC were struggling to cope with the heavy pressure and although they were ahead they hadn’t really tested our goalkeeper. Our side then equalised when McFarlane whipped in a corner and it was met by McCaig who connected well to bring the game to 2-2.

Stewart and Officer then replaced Whiteford and Millar and BSC found themselves down to 10 men when a late challenge resulted in a second yellow for the BSC left winger.

Our side were then in front in the game when again Darcey found space in the box and smashed the ball into the bottom corner. 3-2.

McDonald then replaced Owens.

We then went out of sight in the match when a quick free kick was passed out wide to Houston who delivered for Darcey to complete his hat rick with a bullet header. 4-2.

McFadden then came off for Coyle as we looked to see the game out.

McDonald then cut inside with minutes remaining and scored a screamer from well outside the box to make the game 5-2 and make sure our side were able to pick up another 3 points.
