AA Smuggle point

AA Smuggle point

Shane Bellamy

Captain, Leader, Legend Nielsen secures a point

AA started slowly and paid the price after 3 mins, with a long throw finding its way to a Smugglers forward 6yrds out, to rifle the ball home. AA continued to struggle on a heavy pitch and where getting caught in possession as Smugglers tried to further their advantage. AA settled down after 20 mins and began putting their passing game together and threatening the Smugglers goal. AA had created some good chances when Chris Riley was sent clear on goal only to be hacked down by the on rushing Smugglers keeper who was given a yellow card. AA started the second half quickly and began to dominate the game with Keith Playford having a few efforts scrambled away, but AA were not to be denied as Martin Nielsen rose like a fresh water salmon to head the ball home for a yard or so out. Smugglers tried to hit straight back and could have scored but for the head of James Bakes who deflected a shot on to the bar. AA did have a blatant penalty turned down when Matty Smith was unceremoniously planted to the floor and Shane Bellamy's rush of blood almost gifted Smugglers a goal as he miss kicked his clearance. Smugglers almost won it at the death but a surging run and shot was parried by Bellamy, who was also able to block the rebound. Honours Even after 90 and both teams could have won it, but AA were by far the better side and maybe should of.
