Away win in damp night at Corby!

Both sides contested the ball in the opening exchanges and Scouts were first on the scoreboard. A kick to the corner was followed by a catch and drive and, with virtually no opposition contesting, hooker Alex Finney crashed over for Dean Lake to add the extras.
Scouts were now opening up going down the slope with centres Liam Hancock and Josh O’Brien combining well. Eventually the ball was whipped quickly out to the left for winger Christian Barry to dot down.
The visitors were dominant at this point and it was no surprise when they scored again before the break. Another uncontested lineout close to the line allowed prop Jordan Blakie in and with Lake converting Scouts led 19-0.
S&L were using the heavy conditions to their advantage and camped in Scouts 22 and with a Scouts flanker in the sin bin found space around the side of a scrum to gain seven points.
This score helped to awaken Scouts from their halftime slumbers and as they went the length of the field gained a penalty which was kicked into the corner. To their amazement the lineout was again barely contested and this time it was prop Andy Morris who came up with ball which completed a front row hat trick and earnt a try bonus point. Lake converted.
Callum Inwood then made a decisive break before some interpassing across the field resulted in Hancock scything through a static defence and again Lake added the two points.
S&L still battled hard and recorded a second try after most players stood still wondering what the referee had awarded.
Scouts had the final say when winger Will Brennan looped round to score in the corner.
Next Saturday Scouts have a tough Midlands Intermediate Cup quarter final away to Malvern.
