A strong forwards performance see's the Super Seconds taking all the points in their merit table clash with BBoB

Saturday saw the Old Scouts Super Seconds making the shortish drive to face BBoB in a merit table encounter. The Scouts forwards were bolstered with the return of Liam Markie and Pablo whilst the backs saw the inclusion of centre pairing of Adrian and Merian both from Romania and very welcome new additions to the Old Scouts family.

Scouts kicked off playing towards the BBoB club house the first 10 minutes were played at a high intensity with both teams trying to exert dominance. From the first scrum however it was clear that the visitors were the dominant pack and also had control of the line outs. The lose was being evenly contested.

The first score of the day went to the Scouts when a break in open play saw Adrian going over for his first of two. Josh Allen converted the try and the visitors were 0 7 in the lead. The home team however were next on the score sheet with a breakaway try the conversion going wide.

Then after a knock on the home team had a scrum on there line the Scouts pack drove them off the ball and BBoB conceded a penalty. Scouts elected to scrum again and again drove the home pack behind there line before they again infringed When this happened for a third time the visitors thought they were due a penalty try but according to the ref the offences were different each time so no each was just a penalty and each time Scouts opted for a scrum. The pressure was really telling on the home team and after the 4th or 5th effort Scouts recycled the ball from the base and Merian went over to score, again the try was converted.

Scouts scored once more in the half Adrian getting his second this saw the visitors holding a 5 19 lead at half time.

BBoB made a few changes in the second half bringing on two players who made a big impact for them at the same time Scouts appeared to take their foot of the gas a bit, This combination saw the home team scoring twice in the first 20 minutes of the second half and this brought the scores back to level pegging at 19 points each.

The next ten minutes were played like the first ten of the game at high intensity with both teams having to defend hard. Scouts brought back some players for the last 10 minutes this helped reassert the forwards pressure which gave the backs the room to play this resulted in a try for flying winger Wes Munya who had played out of his socks all game and deserved to cross the whitewash to give the boys from Rushmere Rd the win.

It would be fair to say the Super Seconds have been feeling a bit of pressure as a result of stepping up a league this year and this away win in the table is a real confidence booster with the pack showing just how dominant they can be. A good performance all round and a very satisfying win.
